Dimapur, June 27: In a major COVID-19 scare, the top administrative, police and health officers of Mon District have gone into self isolation in their respective residences after a jawan attached for duty in a quarantine center tested COVID-19 positive on June 24.
The 3 top officials of Mon District who have self isolated are Mon Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police and Chief Medical Officer Mon.
Confirming this, the Deputy Commissioner of Mon, Thavaseelan K IAS said, “Me and SP are self isolating because we were in proximity of someone who was in close proximity of a jawan who tested COVID positive. It is a matter of abundant precaution. Me and SP get tested regularly. We were negative during the test on June 17.”
On discharging his official duty, Thavaseelan said, “We are working from home 24×7 and coordinating with our teams all the time.”
on the jawan who tested positive, the DC said, “The person with whom we were in close proximity tested negative on June 25. However, we are waiting for a second test to be conducted on the person 5 days later post which me and the SP will also get tested.” He added that there is nothing to worry.
“It’s just precaution, as me and SP meet several people every day,” Thavaseelan said.
On self isolation, the DC said, “It is our district’s policy to test all medical and non medical frontline workers regularly.” (Page News Service)
