Dimapur, April 13: As the State authorities has sealed Zion Hospital & Research Centre, Dimapur and placed on quarantine doctors, nurses and workers in the hospital after a patient admitted to the hospital was tested COVID-19 positive in Guwahati, the management of the hospital has clarified that all possible aseptic measures were taken so that no staff or any other patients in the hospital will be infected.
In a clarification issued today, Zion Hospital said the patient was referred as a case of anaemia from other nursing homes to the hospital.
The hospital claimed that at the time of the admission, the patient did not give any history of travel in spite of asking the same. When the patient came back the following day (April 11) with fever, cough and difficulty in breathing, on repeated questioning the father of the patient admitted that he had returned from Kolkata on March 24, it said.
“After examining the patient and finding high index of clinical suspicion, we contacted the concerned officers at the COVID-19 Hospital (Dimapur District Hospital),” it said.
On the claim by Assam Health Minister that the patient was directly referred from Zion Hospital & Research Centre, Dimapur to GMC Hospital, Guwahati, it said it claim is unfounded.
“We are not aware how the patient reached GMC Hospital, Guwahati because the patient was referred to the COVID-19 Hospital,” it clarified.
