COVID-19: NPF assures support to Govt

Dimapur, May 21: Opposition Naga People’s Front (NPF) has expressed great concern over the increasing rate of COVID-19 positive cases and deaths in the State and called upon the Government to be mentally, physically and be well-equipped to fight the pandemic.

In a press release, the NPF also assured to give its fullest cooperation and support to the Government in combating the crisis.
The party also urged the Government to make available the Covid vaccine to all citizens above the age of 18 and sensitize the importance of the vaccine to the people as many people are still reluctant to take the vaccine. It also suggested that all Covid related issues be made free of cost, like testing, medicine and treatment.
The NPF also wanted the Government to issue strict directives to villages, wards and colonies to ensure that persons who have given samples for test be totally isolated “as in many instances, the positive patient before their result been declared is seen moving freely at their vicinity, which ultimately spread the virus to more people.”
As the positive rate is increasing each day, the NPF said more hospital beds and medical equipments should be immediately arrange, particularly in Dimapur and Kohima, and even for other districts as the worst time is likely to hit the State if the present trend continues.

It also suggested to the Government to try to utilize all the retired doctors voluntarily.
“As the Government has announced the extension of Lock Down till 31st May, the Government must be fully prepare the aftermath of the post Lock Down for the safety as well as the livelihood of the people,” it added.
