
Dimapur, April 19: Nagaland Governor RN Ravi on Monday interacted with Church leaders of various Christian denominations in Nagaland on the COVID-19 pandemic, and reminded the Church of its significant role in containing the spread of the virus.
In the interaction cum consultative meeting with the Church leaders held at the Dr Imkongliba Hall, Raj Bhavan Kohima, the Governor discussed the COVID situation in the country and the State. He told the Church leaders that they have moral and spiritual authority and influence over the people and therefore urged them to use their moral and spiritual capital to save our people from the pandemic.
Ravi also advised the Church leaders to make the people more conscious and aware of the COVID-19 challenges and need for strictly adhering to the COVID-19 appropriate behaviours.
Expressing concern over inhibitions of the people to go for vaccination and prevalence of adverse rumours in this regard, the Governor advised the Church leaders to educate and encourage the eligible persons to go for the vaccination as the current ratio of vaccination in the State is one of the lowest in the country.
In this extraordinary situation where the entire society is facing the stress due to COVID 19 pandemic, the Governor reminded the Church of their significant role, said a Raj Bhavan release.
The Governor thanked the Church leaders for their valuable suggestions, which he said will be forwarded to the Government for follow-up. (Page News Service)
