COVID 19: CS to hold video conference with districts officials today


Kohima, March 5: Chief Secretary Temjen Toy will have a video conference with district administrations and health officials to take stock of the situation arising out of spread of coronavirus in the country.
Toy will interact with Deputy Commissioners, Chief Medical Officers, Medical Superintendents and District Project Associates of NSDMA on Friday at 12 Noon in regard to public health response to Novel Coronavirus outbreak. In the video conference, officials from the Medical Department, Home Department and NSDMA will also be present.
The conference was been initiated against the backdrop of Union Government directing States to be more alert.
The State Government has been closely monitoring entry of people from all strategic points and check gates. So far there has been no report of cases of coronavirus in the State. Health officials have asked people not to panic over false reports.
A State Public Health Emergency Operation Centre with Command Centre has been operationalized since January 28. Daily surveillance reports are being dispatched to the Central Surveillance Unit, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
District surveillance units and rapid response teams had been activated and are on maximum alert. A total of 25 isolation beds in public hospitals had been identified and kept ready and the department is working in close coordination with private hospitals in the State.
Screening of passengers arriving at Dimapur airport started since January 30.
In the meantime, the Government is likely to restrict entry of foreigners in the State. Officials here said Government will restrict entry of foreigners into the State for the time being as a precautionary measure.
The Union Government has also decided to enforce strict scrutiny of foreigners entering the country. Sikkim has also decided to stop issuing of Inner Line Permit (ILP) to foreigners as a precautionary measure.
