Dimapur, September 24: In line with the Nagaland Cabinet decision to revoke the COVID-19 cess on petroleum products, the State Finance Department (Revenue Branch) on Thursday notified rollback of the COVID cess.
The Government of Nagaland has been charging COVID-10 cess of Rs 5 per litre on diesel and Rs 6 per litre on petrol & other motor spirit since midnight of April 28.
In a notification, State Additional Chief Secretary & Finance Commissioner, Sentiyanger Imchen notified that the revocation of COVID-19 cess will come into force with effect from the midnight of September 24.
With the rollback of the COVID-19 cess, the price of diesel and petrol per litre will be reduced by Rs 5 and Rs 6 respectively.
On Thursday, a litre of petrol in Dimapur cost Rs 86.44, but with the rollback, petrol will not cost Rs 80.44 per litre from Friday. Similarly in Kohima, a litre of petrol which cost Rs 87.34 today will now be priced Rs 81.34, subject to daily change in price.
A litre of diesel cost Rs 77.25 on Thursday in Dimapur, but with the revocation of the COVID cess, diesel will now cost Rs 72.25 from Friday in Dimapur. Similarly in Kohima, the cost of a litre of diesel will be Rs 72.97 from Friday, instead of Rs 77.97 as on Thursday.
