Dimapur, July 2: Ninety-three out of 98 samples sent from Nagaland for Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) to the National Institute of Biomedical Genomics at Kalyani in West Bengal have been found to be Delta variant (B.1.617.2) of COVID-19.
Out of the 98 samples, 93 were of the Delta variant; 2 were of Kappa variant (B.1.617.1); and 1 was of Alpha variant (B.1.1.7). Results for 2 samples were not received, the Health & Family Welfare Department informed.
“As all are aware that the Delta variant is more infectious, public are advised to continue to strictly adhere to COVID-appropriate behaviour and vaccinate,” it stated. (Page News Service)
