Dimapur, March 23: The fourth quarterly District level coordination meeting on National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) Peren District was held on March 22 at ADC Conference Hall, ADC office Peren The programme was chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Sarita Yadav (IAS).
Chairing the programme, DC welcomed all the members present and expressed her sincere appreciation.
Superintendant of Police, Chief Medical Officer, Project Director RD, District Education Officer, District nodal officer NTCP, representative from All Saints Higher Secondary School Peren and staffs of NTCP attended the meeting.
Dr. Sabino, District Nodal Officer (NTCP) gave the keynote address.
The committee agreed to adopt initiative to declare educational institutions tobacco free with the help of the District Education Officer (DEO). They also agreed to implement activities which will concentrate on imparting awareness and sensitization on the ill effects of tobacco to villages in continuation of creating sensitivity towards ones health and the importance of abiding by the laws under COTPA ACT 2003- Health should be the greatest concern for both the implementers of law and the community.
The house also agreed for Enforcement drive which will be carried out in Jalukie town and Ahthibung Town with the help of the enforcement squads. Literary and media program will also be the integral part of the upcoming activities. They will be incorporated in every action plan of the NTCP.
