Dimapur, September 12: As a part of ongoing activities with the celebration of POSHAN Maah 2021, Mon block (ICDS) and District jointly conducted Cooking competition cum Local food show programme at Chi village on September 10 in collaboration with RD-NRLM. The programme was chaired by Yingphe Block Coordinator Poshan. The programme was attended by Lithrila SDO (C), Hq, Tingyeih Konyak BDO, Mon Block, DPO (ICDS), CDPO Mon Block, Supervisors, Poshan Coordinators, Council Chairman Chi village, Anganwadi Workers, Anganwadi Helpers, SHG members and staff from RD-NRLM.
Y. Tauhong Ngonyen DPO (ICDS) delivered welcome address on behalf of all the convergent departments. He stated importance to health nutrition especially the women & females is of top priority.
He said that community participation is compulsory and focusing on Antenatal check up for females is much important. He also briefly spoke on the importance of PMMVY schemes.
Lithrila Sangtam SDO (C) Hq conveyed gratitude for the enthusiastic participation in the programme. She also encouraged all to preserve the indigenous crops and food items locally available while encouraging the participants to render cooperation in the days to come.
Tingyeih BDO Mon Block in his short speech called upon the participants not to stay idle but to give importance on the organic crops locally available.
Chi village Chairman conveyed gratitude on behalf of Chi villagers for conducting the programme and giving privilege to the villagers in providing awareness on health. Yapoa, Secretary Shakjong VLO, Chi spoke on the importance and improvements of women & children health and cited to fight against malnourished children for the improvement of society.
Eight SHGs for cooking competition and six SHGs for Local food show participated in the programme. Renchano CDPO (ICDS) Mon Block mentioned that junk food should not replace the home cooked food prepared with the locally available food stuffs because locally available foodstuffs contains all the daily required dietary nutrient supplements.
Mongjum SHG was declared as 1st, Teimongpu SHG as 2nd and Shamei SHG 3rd respectively. In conclusion, she thanked all the convergent departments, Chi village elders and the participants for availing the time and making the programme a successful one.
The Social Welfare Department, Phek organised cooking competition at CDPO office meeting hall, on September 10 as part of a month long Poshan Maah observation. The theme of the cooking was “Preparation of Nutritious Food locally available fruits and vegetables”
Six group participated in this event: Vekuhu SHG; Phek village AWW; Women SHG Federation Phek Block; Phek Town AWW; Kuphulu SHG Ketsapo; and Ketsapo Village AWW
The panel of judges consisted of Er. Mechietsho Koza, EAC Phek, Heipeuding Illunglang, BDO Phek, Azenuo, District Health Mobilizer, CMO office Phek.
Department of Social Welfare, Jalukie ICDS Project organised a block level cooking competition at New Jalukie, Local ground on September 10. The programme was chaired by Project Coordinator Peren, Kulule.
Speaking at the programme, CDPO Jalukie, Namhuheing spoke on proper nutrition and also emphasized on the importance of organic food which are locally available for consumption. He also said a proper diet can ensure that the body is in proper state.
In his short speech, CDPO encouraged the AWWs and Helpers to play a vital role and further asked for community participation which will help in sensitising the masses towards adoption of nutritional behaviour.
The 1st position was bagged by Jalukie town AWWs & Helpers, 2nd position by Mhainamtsi, 3rd position by Jalukie B and 4th position by SHG Kariugai, New Jalukie. Around 43 Anganwadi Centres and 2 SHGs from New Jalukie participated in the competition.
