Dimapur, September 8: In celebration of Poshan Maah month, the office of Child Development Project Officer Dimapur (Rural) organized a Cooking Competition among the Anganwadi Workers and Helpers.
In the event, more than 20 dishes were prepared and presented by the participants for display with recipes. These dishes represent the food palette and wholly prepared from locally available fruits and vegetables under the block.
Bonathung Ngullie, CDPO in his speech said the Anganwadi workers being the frontline workers of the Department, they need to encourage and promote foods that is locally available for consumption and also explain to the beneficiaries (pregnant women, lactating mothers and caregivers of children) the nutritional content of such foods and its benefits.
He also explained the themes of Poshan Maah month, that is identification of SAM/MAM children and promotion of Nutri gardens at the village and Anganwadi level. Promoting nutri gardens at households can benefit the family and create awareness of POSHAN. The programme was held following Government SOP norms and the Anganwadi workers were encouraged to conduct activities pertaining to the themes and give awareness on good nutrition at their level.
The participants were given cash prizes. A month long Poshan activities is planned by Chumukedima Block Convergence Action Committee at Village and Block level. (Page News Service)
