Dimapur, June 27: All SARDP-NE projects in the State of Nagaland are being implemented by NHIDCL on EPC mode of contract and as per the contract the completion period for all projects is 1095 days from the appointed date, said Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari in reply to an unstarred question by MP Lok Sabha, Tokheho Yepthomi.
The MP had asked details of the award for construction of SARDP road in Phek, Zunheboto, Longlen and Mon districts, the terms of agreement to complete the projects and whether the contractors have been permitted to sub-let the works and if so the details.
In his reply, Gadkari said there are provisions for subletting works as per contract agreement, however there is no such permission given by NHIDCL for sub-letting of work for 13 projects in Nagaland.
In reply to another unstarred question from the MP about the up-gradation of Dimapur Airport, Minister of State (IC) for Civil Aviation, Hardeep Singh Puri replied that the up-gradation/development of airports is a continuous process and that Airports Authority of India (AAI) from time to time depending on the availability of land, commercial viability, socio-economic considerations, traffic demand/willingness of airlines to operate at such airports. He stated that the AAI had strengthened the runway, taxiway & apron including construction of isolation bay with link taxiway at Dimapur Airport.
It was also conveyed to the MP that the State Government had request the Government of India to develop an alternate airport for Kohima. (Page News Service)
