Dimapur, February 2: Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia has invited NGOs and educational institutions from Nagaland for participation in the community radio awareness workshop to be held from February 11 to 13 at Hotel Acacia, near Rail Gate, Dimapur. The workshop is organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India in collaboration with CEMCA.
The objective of the workshop is to generate awareness among the civil society, potential applicants, Government departments and stakeholders for establishment of community radio station; to motivate the participant eligible civil society organizations to apply for the license to operate community radio stations; and to provide an overview of basic principles of community radio station, ownership, process of capacity building, content generation, technology, management, and sustainability of community radio station.
Interested NGOs and educational institutions have been asked to nominate one person from their organization who could attend the workshop and share the details of the same. Hospitality and travel allowance will be facilitated for the participants as per Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India norms.
Officials from the Central and State Government will be present in the workshop to clarify related questions. The participants will have an opportunity to understand the working of community radio station. On the last day of the workshop, interested participants in establishing community radio station may give expression of interest in the letterhead of the organization/NGO which will be submitted to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India for Information.
