Dimapur, June 22: Community assets distribution program was organized by Department of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Kohima Forest Division at Kohima Range Office on June 18.
During the program, DFO Kohima Rongsenlemla Imchen highlighted on the importance of role of village community in protecting the forest and the environment. She encouraged the gathering to take responsibility of the assets distributed and make full use of it for community benefit.
She appreciated the efforts of the village functionaries, JFMC’s and SHG’s for their efforts in natural resource management. The village functionaries thanked the department for raising environmental awareness in the region and assured full cooperation to the department.
The program was chaired by Pezaneinuo, Ranger Kohima wherein she urged the gathering to maintain the plantation raised by the villagers under FDA judiciously. The department distributed plastic chairs, barbed wires, solar lamps and eco friendly waste bins as a part of community asset distribution under the entry point activities of FDA Kohima.
