Committee formed to compile tribal customary practices

Dimapur, July 26: Feeling the need for compilation of the personal customary practices and usages of all the tribes in the state so as to have a better understanding of the same as well as for the purpose of record and reference, the Government of Nagaland has constituted a Committee headed by the Chief Secretary, Nagaland for compilation of the personal customary practices and usages of all the tribes in the state.
The members of the committee are Chief Secretary Nagaland-Chairman; Home Commissioner Nagaland-member, Commissioner & Secretary, Art & Culture-member secretary; and Secretary Justice & Law-member.
The Committee would chalk out the modalities for carrying out its works in the manner it deems appropriate. The Committee may utilize the services of any Government official or associate any person as it may deem fit for successful completion of the task assigned to it.
The Committee shall submit its report within two months from the date of its constitution.
Meanwhile, a meeting for discussion and deliberation on the above exercise has been convened with all the tribal bodies of the state on August 7 (Wednesday) at 11 a.m. at the Secretariat Conference Hall, Kohima.
