Colleges, Schools & Orgs celebrate Independence Day

Dimapur, August 15: The Global Open University Nagaland, celebrated the 77th Independence Day with great enthusiasm.
This auspicious Independence Day program started with the hoisting of the national flag by Dr. HN Dutta, Vice-Chancellor, The Global Open University which was followed by the national anthem “Jana Gana Mana”. Dr. Utkarsh Sharma, Director (World Institution Building Programme) and Dr. Roopam Bachhil, Registrar, The Global Open University Nagaland gave a brief speech and reminded about the heroes and freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the nation, to bring us freedom, peace, and joy.
Pranab Vidyapith Hr. Sec. School, Dimapur observeed 77th Independence Day celebration at its Auditorium of Vidyapith, and also organized photo exhibition integrated communication and outreach programme on Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsav, organized by Central Bureau of Communication, field office Kohima, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India under the guidance of P Sophie, HOD, Central Bureau of Communication, Kohima. The Photo exhibition was inaugurated by Monoj Bhattacharjee in presence of P Sophie, which displayed pictures of unsung and forgotten heroes of India’s freedom struggle
Principal Monoj Bhattacharjee of the Vidyapith was honoured by P Sophie, HOD, Central Bureau of Communication, Kohima for organizing photo exhibition for next two days.
St Mary’s HSS:
St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School along with Lions club of Dimapur Japfu and Leo Club celebrated 77th Independence Day on August 15, the National flag was hoisted by the Principal Neena Dutta, and sweets were distributed to all who were present.
Dimapur Red Cross
Dimapur Red Cross (DRC) visited Bethesda Youth Center (BYC), Dimapur on the advice of Dimapur Administration to celebrate 77th Independence Day with its inmates on August 15.
Speaking on the occasion Ajay Sethi, Vice-Chairman, Dimapur Red Cross exhorted the inmates to shed the old habits & mindset to opt for a change with the blessings of Lord Jesus for a renewed life.
Sethi also spoke about the Government of India & Nagaland reaching out to the remotest villages of the country with better roads, amenities, welfare schemes & opportunities which has enabled the country to become the 5th largest economy of the world.
Longshithung Kithan, Program Officer, BYC earlier apprised everybody about the beginning of BYC 35 years back where drug addicts & alcoholics have been continuously being rehabilitated to become a better contributing citizens. The inmates are taken care of by the nurses & peer educators on a daily basis.
Managing Committee Members of DRC contributed packets of Rice, Dal, Milk, Tea, Mustard Oil on the occasion for the welfare of the inmates. Ashok Agarwal, Treasurer & Apu Roy, Life Member, Dimapur Red Cross were also present on the occasion.
Bharat Vikas Parishad, Dimapur Branch celebrated 77th Independence Day August 15 at Seva Bharati, T K Angami Complex, Dimapur.
BVP President Rabinderjeet Singh Panesar unfurled the flag in the presence of Senior Kaaryakarta Bishnu Bhattacharjee, members & children.
Panesar spoke about the circumstances in which India got Independence & requested everyone to remember the sacrifices made by freedom fighters in the freedom struggle.
Bishnu Bhattacharjee requested everybody to be united & serve the society & country with total dedication.
