Coffee bar inaugurated at Zunheboto

Dimapur, August 9: A coffee bar was inaugurated at District Project Office, Department of Land Resources, Zunheboto on August 6. Deputy Commissioner of Zunheboto, Peter Lichamo graced the inauguration of coffee bar-cum-distribution of coffee pulper machine, as the special guest.


The DC said that the district has many farmers cultivating coffee, with the potential of growing good quality coffee, and added that it could even compete with the best quality found across the world.
Lichamo appreciated the Department of Land Resources for taking up the initiative and also for distribution of coffee pulper machines to the beneficiaries. He also said that a local coffee bar will also be opened at the main market area soon.
District Land Resources Officer, Vikugha Kiba recalled how the coffee production was introduced to Zunheboto District in 2017 at 65 villages and expressed satisfaction to note that local coffee production has now made its way to international markets.
He said that if the farmers take up coffee cultivation, then the economy would change, generating self-employment and livelihood among the youths who can earn enough through coffee cultivation.


He stated that Zunheboto has about 1.8 lakh hectare of land for coffee cultivation and if the products remain good, the farmers need not be dependant and would prosper. He also added that the department has distributed 23 lakh planting materials to the farmers. (Page News Service)
