Dimapur, October 10: The Central Nagaland Tribes Council has lauded the Public Action Committee on its fight against multiple taxation by both state agencies as well NPGs which has greatly burdened the public as it has only led to an escalation of the prices of every essential commodity in the market.
It has appealed to both state government and all NPGs to heed the cries of the public as it has become unbearable.
Stating that the situation has now arrived at such a stage where the public have come out in the streets and stand at the entry gates to fight against such excessiveness, the CNTC drew the attention on the absence of a price regulatory body in Dimapur where every unscrupulous trader is taking advantage of the common people.
It has demanded the district administration and the DMC to display the prices of every essential item at market places and also proper checking of scales of weight and measures by the department concerned.
