Dimapur, January 29: The Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) has directed its constituent units not to attend the meeting called by the state government on January 31 at Chumukedima, Dimapur.
In a press release issued by its media cell, the CNTC said, “Time and again, some bureaucrats and political leaders have deliberately tried to ignore the CNTC thinking they will get some mileage out of it but such ignorant and arrogant attitude have spelt only more setbacks in any major political decisions.”
The CNTC questioned when some bloc can always be invited together with all its constituent units on any issue, why does the state government deliberately ignore a platform of this major tribes?
Stating that such intentional and deliberate ignoring would be inviting only more obstacles and hurdles in governance, the CNTC also questioned the invitation of the almost defunct and non- existent Naga Hoho where majority of the tribes of Nagaland are no longer its member.
“Not inviting the guardians of our Naga customary law, the Nagaland GB Federation (NGBF) also shows the shallowness of the invitation. The so called consultative meeting is just an eyewash as the Cabinet has already resolved to oppose it,” it said. (Page News Service)
