CMO Dimapur notifies traders on food safety


Dimapur, July 24: Chief Medical Officer, Dimapur, Dr. K. Vikato Kinimi has directed all food handlers and dealers in and around Dimapur, all manufacturing and processing units such as restaurants, bakeries, hotels, food stalls, package drinking water plant, ice cream factories and other edible food items shops to improve the hygiene of their facilities/units within 14 days with immediate effect.
In a release, the CMO said sales of food items without FSSAI certification and use of prohibited chemicals in fruits and vegetables will be penalized as per the provisions of Food Safety & Standard Act 2006.
The CMO informed that regular surprise checking will be carried out after the 14 days grace period, and defaulters will be penalized under the Food Safety & Standard Act 2006.
Meanwhile the Department of Health & Family Welfare Dimapur has thanked the officials representing various departments such as the administration, police, DMC, DCCI and Naga Council for their support and cooperation during the food safety drive carried out for the welfare of the public.
