Laments misinformation is hampering State’s fight against COVID
DIMAPUR, JUNE 10: Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio launched the Nagaland COVID-19 Information App at the War Room, Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima, on Thursday.
According to a DIPR bulletin, Rio congratulated the Department of Information Technology and Communication for successfully developing and launching the App, and said that it would greatly help citizens in gathering accurate information related to COVID-19 in the State.
Rio however lamented that misinformation and false speculations are hampering the State’s fight against COVID, especially in vaccination drive.
He said that with the launch of the App, all required information related to COVID-19 would be easily accessible to all the citizens and would go a long way in dispelling any doubts that the general public might have.
He further stressed on the need to educate the public and said that the dissemination of proper and accurate data and information is vital in ensuring that the State successfully contains the COVID-19 situation.
The Chief Minister said that Nagaland is at par with other States in the field of Information Technology and acknowledged the efforts of the War Room, who have been working tirelessly for the past few months.
Rio also made an impromptu call to the Mon District COVID-19 helpline and talked with the personnel managing the COVID-19 crisis in the District regarding the overall COVID status there and asked them if they had any grievances, which the Government can look into.
The Nagaland COVID-19 Information App has been developed and maintained by the Department of Information Technology and Communication for the State COVID-19 War Room.
The main objective of the App is to provide COVID-19 information including hospital bed status to the citizens. Also contact information at all levels of management of COVID-19 in the State is provided to assist the citizen get help quickly during times of emergencies.
The mobile App, which is a minimized version of the Nagaland COVID-19 Dashboard portal, provides the following information:
- COVID-19 Case details in a snapshot
- Guidelines and Notifications related to COVID-19 issued by the Government
- Details of COVID-19 Testing and Vaccination sites along with proper map. Citizens can also register for vaccination through the App as it is linked with the COWIN portal.

(b) District Administration
(c) DTF & District Helpdesks
(d) All Hospitals helpdesk related to COVID-19
- COVID-19 Bed Status of hospitals in all the Districts
- Basic COVID-19 FAQs
- Returnees/inbound travellers can also fill the self-declaration form through the App
A new update of the App will also be launched soon, which will include a self-assessment feature to guide and help individuals who have COVID-like symptoms to determine whether to seek medical help or not.
