Dimapur, July 29: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Wednesday inaugurated the new State Banquet Hall at the Chief Minister’s residential complex, Kohima.
The State government, has in a significant development, introduced a virtual programme for inaugurating the new State Banquet Hall, which was live streamed and telecast on Youtube and Facebook for the viewers to witness the inauguration as a protective measure to handle the pandemic.
The Chief Minister in his inaugural speech said it is a remarkable day for the State to have a world class banquet hall, the long dream of having a suitable and standard banquet hall could be achieved today ever since the idea of having a permanent banquet hall conceived in the year 2001. “At this time of achievement, we remember our pioneers for their contribution who brought our State this far building slowly but surely” he said.
He acknowledged the PWD and contractors for completing the hall at a time when the pandemic began and mentioned that it will be a privilege and moment of pride to invite honoured guest and other official ceremonies to be observed at the new banquet hall. He also added that it will give ample opportunities to the youths and talented people to exhibit and showcase their skill in music and arts etc and encouraged that this hall will be fully utilised so that it becomes a house of pride and place of blessing for everyone.
Concluding his address Rio, commented and appreciated Team Nagaland – the department frontline workers, the stakeholders, NGO’s civil societies, hohos, volunteers and particularly the churches for their prompt response and support to handle Covid 19.
