CM inaugurates Chega Gadi/Lamsimngi festival

Dimapur, October 29: Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio inaugurated the Chega Gadi/Lamsimngi Mini Hornbill Cum Naga King Chilly festival at DC Complex New District Head Quarter Peren today.
Addressing the gathering Rio said Peren District was named as the green district because it has covered maximum forestry and greenery. He said that the people of the district have inherited rich culture and Tradition therefore encouraged the people to preserve and to promote the rich culture and tradition.
He also considered the Zeliang dance as one of the most progressive and also the best dances among our rich culture tradition performances.
The CM was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton, Agriculture and Cooperation Minister G. Kaito Aye, Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Parliamentary Affairs Minister C.M. Chang, Advisor for Law and Justice Dr. Longrineken and Advisor Horticulture Mhathang Yanthan along with senior Government officials.
The event host, Namri Nchang, Advisor for Water Resources, also extended Chega Gadi/Lamsimngi greetings, while DC Peren S. Tainiu chaired the function.
Rio also inaugurated exhibition cum sale stalls put up by the various governmental department and self help groups.
Earlier, tradition blessing was performed by Itingtiebe, welcome address delivered by President Zeme Council (N) Dr. Tumda Newme. Special song was presented by Makuilongdi Khuan Choir.
Highlight of the day one included sounding of traditional tune by Ilungkum, and cultural extravaganza by Zeme Cultural Society Jalukie ‘B’, Tenyimi union Jalukie, Dancing troupe from Ahthibung, Tening, Nsong, New Jalukie and Samziuram.
