CM chairs SMA SRCW meeting

Dimapur, June 27: The meeting of the State Mission Authority (SMA) of the State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW)-Nagaland Chapter was held on June 27 in the office chamber of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Kohima under the chairpersonship of Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio.
The meeting was attended by members of the SMA: NeibaKronu, Minister in charge of Planning & Coordination, KT Sukhalu, Advisor, School Education, Dr N Kire, Advisor, Rural Development, Pukhayi Sumi, Advisor Food and Civil Supplies, S Pangyu Phom, Minister, Health & Family Welfare, Temjen Toy (IAS), Chief Secretary, Obangla Jamir, Additional Secretary, Women Resource Development and Member Secretary, State Commission for Women, and officials of the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Nagaland.
The objective of the meeting was to review the mission activities of the SRCW.
Sarah Ritse, Secretary, Department of Social Welfare, introduced the SRCW to the members, and informed that the SRCW is the Project Management Unit (PMU) of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme and the implementing agency of the Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK), the Women Helpline (181), and the Sakhi-One Stop Centres (OSC) in the State.
Chief Secretary, the Brand Ambassadorof the BBBP in the State, pinned the badge for ‘Ambassador of the Girl Child Education’ on the Chief Minister who is the Chief Ambassador of the same.
The SMA members deliberated on strengthening convergence mechanisms for the successful implementation of the key schemes under the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India. Key issues and challenges discussed include the BSNL and telecommunication service providers pertaining to the Women Helpline, protection of women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 for which the SRCW is an empanelled institute to conduct training programmes, workshops, and capacity building exercises, and on mission livelihood.
