Kohima, February 18: In his budget speech, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today announced Chief Minister’s Grant for Journalism to s Strengthen the foundations of democracy by empowering the fourth estate.
This grant will be in the form of assistance for journalists who will take up reportage that strengthens democracy, empowers the people and ensures good governance while highlighting the voice of the people, he said.
Rio also assured that the Government will support capacity building, study tours and exposure programmes for journalists and members of the press and media.
CM’s Grant for Research Scholars: “We have to support advancement in science and technology if our society is to progress,” he said while announcing the grant.
Rio said the grant will support scholars and projects related to research in science.
Noklak: On Nagaland’s newest district Noklak, Rio said the Government will undertake all possible measures to elevate the district on human and infrastructure development especially in the fields of administration, police, youth empowerment, education and healthcare.
To begin with, we will undertake construction of office complexes for Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, a Town Hall and a godown for food grains, he announced.
To improve health care facilities, Rio said the linked Anti-Retroviral Therapy Centre of CHC at Noklak is being upgraded to Anti-Retroviral Centre. “We will upgrade the 30 bedded CHC at Noklak to District Hospital by adding another 20 beds under NHM,” he announced. (Page News Service)
