Chozuba area lead PDSA meet medal tally on Day-2

Chozuba, April 12: Chozuba Area Sports Association (CASA) continue to lead the medals table tally at the ongoing 37th Phek District Sports Association Meet 2023 here at Chozuba Town with 24 medals (11 gold, 6 silver, 7 bronze) on the second day.
Chokri Area Games and Sports Association (CAGSA) is in second position with 26 medals (8 gold, 14 silver, 4 bronze) followed by Phek Area Sports Association with 11 medals (4 gold, 7 bronze).
At the end of the athletic events today, Mulusayi Medeo of Chozuba Area, the individual champ kept his momentum yet again to win three gold medals in 400m sprint (0.57.25), 800m race (02:12.04) and 1500 m race (4.38.47) to retain the best athlete in Phek district.
For women’s athletic events, Choyivelu Neinu (PASA) and Chekrotalu Khusoh (CASA) shared the glory of being the best women’s athlete with both winning three golds each. Neinu won three gold medals in 100m dash (0:14.53), Long Jump (4.48m) and Triple jump (9.61m)
Khusoh won three gold medals in 800m race (02:48.63), 1500 m race (06:06.47) and 3000m race (15:12.00).
Nagaland’s best discus thrower Venuzo Dawhuo of Chokri Area Games and Sports took gold in discus throw with his best throw of 36.22 meter. He bettered his record that won him the gold medal in the 2nd Nagaland Olympic Games in 2022 with his best throw of 35.53 meter. While Vemele Thingo also of CAGSA in second with 30.96 meter, followed by third with Huluyi D Vadeo of CCSA with 29.49 meter.
In shot-put competition, the Northeast gold medalist Venuzo Dawhuo (CAGSA) got his second gold medal with his throw of 12.08m. Vemele Thingo (CAGSA) with 11.35 m in second and third by Wetso Kapfo with 10.80m.
In men’s football, defending champion Center Chakhesang Sports Association (CCSA) settled for a 1-1 draw against Seceku Area Sports Association in the first match, while Khezha-Kuzha Tephe Sports Association defeated Chokri Area Games and Sports 2-0 in the second match. While the league matches for volleyball and basketball for both men and women are underway.
The Sports Association consisting of 9 areas with Chozuba Area, Chokri Area, Phek Area, Centre Chakhesang, Seceku Area, Khezha-Kuzha Tephe, Tizu Area, Phoyisha, Sekrüzu Area are taking part in the Phek district level tournament with more than 800 athletes competing for the Sports Meet.
