Child rights awareness held at Jalukie

Dimapur, October 15: Peren District Administration, District Level Centre for Women-Mahila Shakti Kendra conducted an awareness program on child rights under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) at Jalukie Town Local Baptist Church on October 13.
Resource Person Women Welfare Officer (WWO), MSK (BBBP), Heiriateilie, spoke on the importance of child rights and to eradicate discrimination faced by the girl child. She also said that the basic rights of the children need to keep on advancing in providing opportunities that has an important effect on all children.
The programme was chaired by Children Associate Pastor, Ndazeung Hingleu and invocation prayer was pronounced by Jalukie Town Local Pastor, Dr. Mongzeung Mpom. Three classes from Sunday School Department attended the awareness programme.
Door-to-door campaign
Meanwhile, to mark the beginning of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) week, the Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) District Level Centre for Women, Peren in collaboration with the District Administration and ICDS started a door-to-door awareness campaign at Jalukie ‘B’ village on October 12. The campaign is to create awareness and to sensitize the community about the need to promote empowerment of a girl child.
Women Welfare Officer, MSK (BBBP), Heireiteilei highlighted about the importance and significance of educating girls and its target to improve the child sex ratio. Gift hampers were also distributed to a newly born girl child. (Page News Service)
