Dimapur, July 11: Governor of Nagaland and Chief Rector Nagaland University, PB Acharya stated that Nagaland can only be strengthened by the people of the State and called on the Universities to play a pro active role in bringing greater heights to Nagaland. Governor Acharya was addressing a gratitude programme at Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, Meriema today.
The Governor appreciated the dedication and passion of the teaching staff of NU and encouraged them to continue their duty towards building the Nation. He also stated that they should time and again review their approach towards imparting knowledge to the students.
He reiterated the importance of skill courses and said that students when they come out of the University should be able to stand on their own and called for dialog between trade, industry and educational institutions.
“One should change their mindset towards jobs. The Government sector is stagnant, therefore, students should take up courses where they can stand on their own and become entrepreneurs,” the Governor added.
Vice Chancellor NU, Prof Pradeshi Lal, in his address, thanked Governor Acharya for the constant encouragement and the effort put in for the progress of the University.
Short speeches were also delivered by Pro Vice Chancellor, Kohima Campus and Prof Rosemary Dzuvichu. The vote of thanks was proposed by Registrar, NU. (Page News Service)
