Kohima, November 22: Kohima Press Club today broke five years trophy drought of the Challenger Cup. Playing a close-shove match as part of the ongoing 25th edition of Classic Cup, Kohima Press Club defeated Classic Club by a solitary goal scored by Nchumthung Odyuo. He scored the goal in the fourth minute of first half. Thereafter, neither team managed to make any further break even in the second half. Out of the 12 times the Challenger Cup being played, Kohima Press Club had last won the trophy7 in 2013 with Classic Club retaining it for five consecutive time.
CLASSIC CUP FINAL TODAY:
Meanwhile, the final of the silver jubilee edition of Classic Cup will be played on Saturday, November 23 at 1:30 PM at Kohima Local Ground. Champions of Kohima Football League (2018) – Sechü-Zubza FC and champions of 9th edition of Classic Cup (2003) – Puliebadze Club, Jotsoma will clash for the title.
Minister for Planning & Coordination, Neiba Kronu will grace the final as special guest.
