Dimapur, May 11: The Government of India has renewed the Rs 50 lakh insurance scheme for health workers fighting COVID-19, under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan package, with effect from April 24, 2021 for a period of 180 days.
A notification from the State Health Department on Tuesday informed that the scheme covers health workers fighting COVID-19 in government hospitals, health care centres as well as private hospitals.
Any heath worker, who meets with some accident while treating COVID-19 patients, would be compensated with Rs 50 lakh.
The Government of Nagaland would provide an additional Rs 10 lakh as compensation uner the same scheme, it informed.
