Dimapur, December 6: A delegation of Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare led by Preeti Sudan, Secretary to Government of India called upon Minister for Health & Family Welfare, S. Pangnyu Phom at his official residence.
The visiting officials while appreciating the performance of various health schemes in the State also shared their concern on the delay in release of fund by the State as it is affecting the programme implementations.
The Union Secretary also urged the State to expedite operationalization of the upcoming Medical College at Kohima, which will play a crucial role not only in improving delivery of tertiary healthcare service but will also help in solving the acute shortage of doctors in the State. Preeti Sudan also emphasized on timely submission of Utilization Certificates of various sanctions accorded by the Ministry.
S. Pangnyu Phom while welcoming the delegation thanked Preeti Sudan for visiting Nagaland, as it is the first ever high level delegation of Health Ministry officials to visit the State in its 55 years of statehood. The Minister impressed upon the Central officials for review of existing Criteria for Allocation of Resource Envelop, Enhancement of NHM Resource Envelop, NITI Aayog Ranking and also the need of a regional office of MOHFW in Nagaland in view of increasing health schemes and establishment of more Central Government establishments in Nagaland.
