Dimapur, January 15: The 3-day long celebration of Chokri Area Baptist Youth Fellowship (CABYF) 50 years of existence got underway at Thenyizu village under Phek district on the theme ‘Proclaim liberty in Christ’ on Friday evening.
The opening ceremony began with colourful extravaganza from the host village Thenyizu Sunday School team marking the celebration of the 50th anniversary.
While Rev P Bonny Resü Lead Pastor, Chakhesang Baptist Church, Dimapur unveiled the 50th anniversary monolith, Rev Vevotso Theluo chairman Chokri Area Baptist Church Council (CABCC) lead the flag hoisting of the celebration. This was stated in a press release from CABYF on Friday evening.
In the introductory service, Rev. Dr. Chekrovei Cho-o, Professor of Applied Theology, Oriental Theological Seminary, Bade, Dimapur spoke on the message “Where Are You”.
Cho-o spoke on the importance of self examination to know where one stands at, and know where they should be. He added that knowing oneself will lead to the right path of God’s way.
While questioning the youths where they stand at spiritually, he also asked them to know their existence seeking their origin to discover themselves and get closer to God.
He reminded that the road to perfection is always under construction and called upon the youth to improvised their talents to achieved their attributed goals.
“We are not born by accident, but for a purpose,” he reminded the youths and called upon to make the best use of purpose giving by God.
CABCC chairman Rev Vevotso Theluo, sharing greeting, appreciated the pioneers of the fellowship for which today they are celebrating the 50th years of existence.
He urged the youths to take advantage of the anniversary to changed themselves and be a messenger of God. He also asked them to make the best used of the fellowship by getting closer to God and understand the God’s love, to wake up from the slumber to give more effort in praising the living God.
The other speakers includes Rev P Bonny Resü, Lead Pastor, Chakhesang Baptist Church, Dimapur, Rev Dr Sülüveyi Rhakho, Director, Harvest Ministries International.
Colo Mero, Director, Life Ministries as the resource person for the workshop on the topic “A Ministerial Challenge: Faith in Action.”
The three-day long celebration will also be marked by series of competition like- quartet, solo, group indigenous, theme song, choir with instrument and bible quiz.
Nine villages including one town namely Thipuzu, Phusachodu, Phuyoba, Khalazu Bawe, Khulazu Basa, Kikruma village, Chesezu, Thenyizu, North Kikruma and Chetheba Town- are part of CABYF. Hundreds of youths from different Baptist Church within the area are taking part in the celebration.
