CE staff trained on professional skills development

Dimapur, June 26: A one day capacity building training programme on soft /professionalism skills development for officers & staff of Chief Engineer was held on Tuesday, organized by Water Resources Department, Kohima.
Chief Engineer, Er. Tsuktinungsang, in his key note address said that with our own basic skills and achievements in our careers everyone has come thus so far and we are all accordingly responsible in whatever work we do as a public officers, henceforth besides our academic or qualifications we have, we need to specialize or upgrade our skills.
He said as a Government servant working in an atmosphere, where we have seniors working above us, we should be ready to hone our skills in communication, on how to communicate and where to communicate. He encouraged the officer’s & staffs to avail the opportunity to enhance the capabilities on how to get job done in a very cordial way among the officer’s & colleagues and to the people.
Youth Net, Director, Lezo Putsure highlighted that professional skills are career competencies that are not taught or acquired as part of the course work required to earn Masters or PhDs but it is a skill of leadership, mentoring, project management and conflict resolution and value added skills which are essential to any career. He said our behaviour or success comes by our attitude and by the way we deal different situation that comes our way.
In the training, the officer’s & staffs were highlighted on skills development of professionalism, time management, effective communication and emotional intelligence, body language, responding appropriately and effective functioning of team work. (Page News Service)
