Cautious BJP invokes pre-poll alliance

Patton to take call in case of ‘untoward scenario’

Dimapur, March 9: The BJP Nagaland has reiterated its commitment to the pre-poll alliance with the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and in keeping the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) intact.
Reacting to the move of some NPF legislators for a “regional coalition’ with the NDPP, the State BJP said the party is resolute in strengthening the PDA with a strong conviction to complete the full term of the alliance government.
“Since the 1st day of the formation of the PDA government, rumours have been spread that the PDA alliance would not last even for a few months, but the PDA have withstood to complete a full year un-fluttered. The BJP Nagaland stands unruffled and shall continue to uphold the pre-poll alliance,” said State BJP chief spokesperson, Kuputo Shohe.
The State BJP, however, endorsed Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton and BJP legislators to take the right decision collectively in case of any untoward scenario of the PDA Government.
On the move of the 18 NPF MLAs, the BJP said the NDPP has clarified reaffirming the pre-poll alliance with BJP. It appreciated the “political maturity and statesmanship” shown by the NDPP under Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and party president Chingwang Konyak.
The BJP further endorsed the PDA Government to ensure that a stable government is in place for all round development of the state. It said the PDA cannot be affected by the “desperate moves” of any political party or individual in attempting to disrupt the firm alliance.
Meanwhile the State BJP has congratulated the PDA government for successful completion of one year and further wished and extended fullest support for good governance for the welfare of the people.
