Dimapur, April 24: Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, the bishop of Kohima has requested for special prayers on April 28 in all the Catholic Churches and Communities for the victims Sri Lanka’s bombing on Easter Sunday. Those attacks were “extremely evil” and “blasphemous” he said, because they happened on Easter Sunday. Killing people while praying is clear proof that those behind the terror have no humanity or religion and it is the extreme form of human depravity and bigotry, he added.
A statement issued from the Bishop’s house stated that all forms of violence against human being must be abjured and killing of innocent people must be stopped.
The Catholic Churches observes the Sunday after Easter as Divine Mercy Sunday and it is fitting that we implore God’s mercy on the innocent victims of human depravity and also pray for forgiveness and conversion of those who perpetuate violence in all forms.
