Case Premier League undeway: Nizams stun champions Trinity in inaugural match


Dimapur, April 7: Nizams FC stunned defending champions Trinity Sporting Club in the inaugural of the Case Premier League – Season 3 on April 7.
Nizams scored three early goals in the first half leaving the two-time champions with too much to do.
Pele grabbed a brace while Themreiso grabbed the other as Nizams were up 3-0 inside 25 minutes. Yanger managed to pull one back minutes before the first half ended but some resolute defending and two acrobatic saves from goalkeeper Temsumeren helped the Nizams earn the first three points of the league.
In the other matches, Case FC beat STAFAC FC 2-1, while G-Sporting Club were held to a 2-2 draw by Teammate, and Natak FC came from a goal down to beat Super Strikers 2-1.
Akum and Kaisu scored for Case FC while Ruleto scored from a penalty as a resurgent Case FC looks to assert their dominance on the football field.
Teammate FC saw their lead cut twice as G-Sports held on for a point. Back after a season’s hiatus, Teammate pulled ahead in the 5th minute when Lima Ao slotted home. Vizoru levelled for G-Sports in the 33rd minute.
Aosanen scored a minute after kick-off as Teammate took the lead again but it lasted less than 10 minutes as Yambemo equalized again for G-Sport.
In the match between two newcomers, a stunning goal from 53-year old Sanjit from range saw Natak FC beat Super Strikers.
Kevichutuo had scored in the 11th minute to give Super Strikers the lead but Viketo seized on a defensive error to level and Sanjit scored a stunner around the hour mark as Nataks held on for a win despite nervy moments towards the end of the game.
Earlier, a brief inaugural ceremony was held and Pastor Tali of Ao Baptist Church Diphupar kicked off the inaugural Case Premier League match. (Page News Service)
