Career Counselling Workshop on ‘Soft Skill & Aptitude development held at SASRD

Dimapur, March 31: A Career Counselling workshop focused on ‘Soft Skill development, Aptitude for Civil services & other Competitive Exams’was organized by Nagaland University at SASRD Medziphema campus from March 29 to 30.
B.Sc(Ag) -III year students were the main target group. A total of 71 students from UG & PG level registered for participation in two days workshop. Career counselling programme is organized every year at NU:SASRD as an integral part of academic activities of students so as to make them aware about the promising career opportunities ahead. It also helps them to lay strong foundation in Soft Skill development, and aptitude development for Civil services & other Competitive Exams.
The workshop comprised of sessions with resource persons from T.I.M.E, Guwahati. The programme focused on orienting students to different competitive exams, career opportunities available in Agri-allied sectors , avenues of higher studies abroad, CV building , communication skill development, GD & Personal Interview techniques, preparing general studies for UPSC & NPSC exams, quantitative aptitude, data interpretation and data sufficiency, analytical reasoning, reading comprehension, decision making and problem solving skills as well as motivating them for setting up of entrepreneurial ventures .
Prof. A. K. Makar, Dean NU:SASRD welcomed the resource persons and motivated the students to prepare themselves for facing the challenges ahead in their career. He stressed upon the need of confidence building and practice the concepts learnt during the workshop.
He also lauded the initiatives and efforts undertaken by Prof. K. K. Jha, I/C Student Counseling for organizing the workshop successfully.
Prof. K K Jha, motivated the participants for hard work & strong determination. He also expressed his heartfelt thanks to Prof. T. Lanusosang, Pro Vice -Chancellor, NU:SASRD for providing all needed facilities and help for organizing the workshop successfully.
Shekhozo Vero of III Yr B.Sc(Ag) delivered the feedback on behalf of the participants. Students expressed their happiness and satisfaction on the learning experiences gained during the different sessions of workshop. Feedback of the students revealed that the present counselling programme instilled a great level of confidence in them to prepare for their cherished career strategically.
