Capt Kenguruse’s bravery continues to inspire: GOC Spear Corps

Dimapur, June 23: General Commanding Officer (GOC), Spear Corps of the Indian Army’s Eastern Command, Lt Gen Harjeet Singh Sahi on Sunday said that Capt Neikezhakuo Kenguruse’s act of bravery during the Kargil War-leading to his ultimate sacrifice-continues to be an inspiration.
A press release issued by PRO Defence informed that the GOC made this remark during the Kenguruse Memorial Run at Bhagat Stadium, Rangapahar Military Station, Dimapur.
The event was held to commemorate Kargil Rajat Jayanti (25 years) and honour the supreme sacrifice of Capt Kenguruse, “the valiant son of Nagaland”, it stated.
“The Kenguruse Memorial Run is not just an event but a symbol of our endearing respect and remembrance for Capt Neikezhakuo Kenguruse, MVC (Posthumous). His bravery during the Kargil War is an inspiration to all of us,” said Lt Gen Sahi.
The memorial run saw participation from more than 500 persons, including all ranks and families of the Rangapahar Military Garrison, it informed. Participants had options to compete in 2 km, 5 km, and 10 km runs, ensuring an inclusive event for all ages and fitness levels.
“The highlight of the event was the presence of Capt Kenguruse’s parents, who were felicitated by Lt Gen Harjeet Singh Sahi, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM, GOC, Spear Corps. In his address, the GOC expressed deep gratitude for the sacrifices made by Capt Kenguruse and his family.
“The General Officer also motivated the participants by awarding prizes to the winners in each run category”, it stated.
The event concluded with a sense of camaraderie and patriotic fervour as participants and attendees reflected on the heroic deeds of Capt Kenguruse and the significance of Kargil Vijay Diwas.
“The Spear Corps is committed to honouring the sacrifices of our brave soldiers and will continue to organise such events to keep their legacy alive”, it stated.
