Can Youth host webinar on abuse

Dimapur, October 3: Can Youth under its project ‘Development 4 Adolescent’ organized webinar session on “Abuse: physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, verbal abuse and digital abuse” on October 1 with Akangkokla Namo, programme officer, Family Planning Association of India, Nagaland Branch and Kivitoli Chishi, board secretary of Can Youth as resource persons. The session was moderated by Suikolie, facilitator, Development 4 Adolescent, Can Youth.
Kivitoli Chishi mentioned about the abuse faced by every individual and how family and society plays an important role in supporting the individual who faced such situation.
Akangkokla Namo said every individual have the right to live free life without being abused. She mentioned that physical abuse can be of any physical harm like slapping, punching, bullying, etc. These types of abuses usually take place when someone tries to control the other. She also shared about psychological abuse where a person mentality and emotion is disturbed and affected.
She encouraged the participants to share their problems to other person or family or closed ones and not stay silent/hide the problems/issue. “You are the boss of your body,” she said adding no one is allowed to touch it if the other person is not comfortable.
