CAGSA golden jubilee all set to begin on February 1

Kohima, January 31: Chokri Area Games and Sports Association (CAGSA) is all set to conduct the 50th golden jubilee of the area games and sports meet from February 1 to 9 here at Phüsachodü village under Phek district. It will be hosted Phüsachodü Youth Society.

Manipur’s Minister for Public Health Engineering Department and Printing & Stationery, Losii Dikho, will grace the occasion as chief guest, while Nagaland legislator Dr Chotisüh Sazo will be the guest of honour.
The opening ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. on February 1. The chief guest will unveil CAGSA’s 50th anniversary monolith during the opening ceremony.
The nine-day long tournament will feature 7 track events for both the genders, 6 field events for men and 5 field events for women. The competition also includes football, volleyball, basketball, archery and arm wrestling.
The running cash prizes includes football (men) Rs. 1,00,000 donated by family in memory of Lt Kronyi Kapüh, basketball (men) ?50,000 donated by family in memory of Lt. Vekhotso Chotso, volleyball (men) Rs 50,000 donated by family in memory of Lt Hüsazo Swüro, football (women) Rs 30,000 donated by family in memory of Lt Vezopra Nyekha, basketball (women) Rs 20,000 donated by Pungotolü Swuro and volleyball (women) donated by Müdovehü Yhobü.This was stated in a press release from CAGSA media team on Sunday.
CAGSA president Vekhayi Ruho stated the hectic preparation have been going for more than a week. With 11 units under Chokri area, he informed that they are expecting around 1000 participants for the sports meet.
In the wake of Covid-19, the president also have urged the delegates to strictly follow the government SOPs.
The associate units under Chokri Area are Chesezu Youth Association, Chetheba Town Youth Organization, Chikri Nasa Youth Organization, Khulazu Basa Youth Organization, Khulazu Bawe Village Youth Society, Kikrüma Youth Organization, North Kikrüma Youth Organization, Phüsachodümi Youth Society, Rükizu Youth Organization, Thenyizumi Youth Social Welfare Organization, Thipuzu Youth Organization.
