No changes in Chumukedima district
DIMAPUR, JANUARY 7: Even as protests and agitations continue at Shamator, demanding up-gradation to a district and similarly voices are being raised in the recent creation of Chumukedima district bifurcating from Dimapur, the Nagaland Cabinet today held discussion on both the issues at Chumukedima.
While details of the Cabinet meeting are yet to be made public, Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton told media persons that there would not be any changes in the present Chumukedima district.
He said that the only thing is the demarcation of the boundaries of Dimapur and Chumukedima district. “We have entrusted a Committee to look into it, which will submit the report at the earliest”, he said.
When asked about the Shamator district demand issue, the Deputy Chief Minister said that a “Third Party” has been set up to negotiate with the Civil Society Organizations. He, however, said the members of the “third party” are yet to be chosen.
