Dimapur, December 19: The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has issued show cause notices to two party MPs for voting in favour of the CAB/CAA 2019 in total defiance of the party’s resolutions against the same. The 2 MPs have been given 7 days (on or before December 26) to reply to the show cause notice.
In the notice to MP Rajya Sabha, KG Kenye, who is also the secretary general of the party, the NPF Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) reminded that the ‘Core Committee’ in its meeting held on 30th January 2019 and the Central Executive Council (CEC) on 31st January 2019 passed a resolution and on both the meetings resolved to oppose the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB/CAA). The same resolutions were reiterated in the party’s consultative meeting held on 30th March 2019 at the NPF Central Office Kohima.
“You are also currently holding the post of Secretary General of the NPF party. Hence, it is expected of you to act/vote in consonance with the standing resolutions of the party,” it said.
“Whereas, in total defiance of the party’s ‘Resolutions’, you have voted in ‘favour’ of the CAB/CAA 2019 on 12th December 2019 in the Upper House of Indian Parliament,” the notice said.
In another show cause notice Dr Lorho S Pfoze, MP Lok Sabha, the DAC NPF said he was issued ‘ticket’ of the NPF and subsequently got elected as MP (Lok Sabha) from Outer Manipur Parliamentary seat.
Reminding him of the party’s resolution against the CAB/CAA, the DAC said Dr Lorho, who is also a NPF CEC member, was expected to act/vote in consonance with the standing resolutions of the party.
“In total defiance of the party’s ‘Resolutions’, you have voted in ‘favour’ of the CAB/CAA 2019,” it said while directing him to submit reply to the show cause within 7 days.
