BJP/RSS dictating State’s 47 “Christian” non-BJP MLAs: NPCC

Nagaland News

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 24: The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) President K Therie on Friday claimed that the newly formed United Democratic Alliance is heading for a collapse and predicted that the MLAs, finding themselves confined in small spaces, might try to push each other down and Congress is being observant of that.

Speaking during an event under the party’s new campaign “crusade against unfaithful government” here at Dimapur DCC Office, Therie alleged that BJP/RSS is dictating the 47 “Christian” non-BJP MLAs in Nagaland and people of the State have become soft, allowing the BJP/RSS to mould them however they like.
Attacking the Government on multiple fronts, he said that extortion, bribery, corruption were never the way of life for Nagas, but they are now and criticised the public in general for selling their votes. However, according to him, the 48.11% vote that Congress candidate received in 2019 election tells that there are genuine voters and they should not be underestimated, thereby urging the party workers to work hard.
Referring to PM Modi and General Secretary of the NSCN (IM) Th. Muivah as two “guiding spirits” of Rio, Therie said that solution cannot be expected from Rio and over the years the issue that used to be discussed internationally has been reduced to Interlocutor and Himanta Biswa Sarma.
He also criticised the role of civil societies in addressing the issues of the State claiming that while they talk against the Government, when election comes, instead of staying true to their words, they work for the very people in the Government.
In relation to the commercial hub Dimapur, he said that the district deserves better roads and being only next to Guwahati, the benefit should be taken. However, he expressed that the development of the district depends on the leadership the people choose and urged the attendants to ensure the win of the Congress candidates from the 5 constituencies in the next election.
He also revealed that as per the “crusade”, the NPCC team will be touring in the first phase starting from September 27 the districts of Wokha, Tuensang, Noklak, Mokokchung, and Longleng as well as Shamator where a by-election is scheduled to take place. He mentioned that they would be touring all 12 districts before Christmas.
NPCC Vice President V Lashu, on the occasion, said that when it is time to be negotiators in the process of Naga peace talks, Rio wants to be a felicitator and accused Rio of having ulterior motives.
He claimed that Congress was voted out of power because of speaking the truth and added that there is a need to educate the people to not sell their votes and urged the party workers to reach the grassroots and think of themselves as elected representatives.

Chairman of the Minority Department Rajesh Kumar Sethi during his speech said that the people running the Government blamed and betrayed former CM SC Jamir and shifted from one party to another in the name of solution which is yet to come.
During the event speeches were also delivered by Neojila, Vice President of NPMC, Lashito Shohe, ACCC President 5th Gasphani II, and R Mukhe Yimkhung President DYC in which they criticised the Government for lack of opportunities for women, backdoor appointments, lack of schemes for farmers, lack of sports facilities and unemployment among others.
