BJP Nagaland celebrates 38th Foundation Day

Kohima, April 6: Nagaland State Unit of BJP today celebrated the 38th Foundation Day of BJP with a call for party workers to rededicate themselves towards the service of the people of the State. The formal celebration was held at BJP Nagaland State office in Kohima.
“Altogether 12 BJP legislators are partners in the NDPP-led PDA government and we were elected on the mandate to serve the people,” said Minister for Higher and Technical Education, Temjen Imna Along.
BJP has 12 MLAs in the 60 member State Assembly, while they have six cabinet ministers, including Deputy Chief Minister in the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party-led People’s Democratic Alliance government.
He said that with the BJP being an ally in the State government many of the BJP rank and file may have the intention of taking advantage of being in power.
Nonetheless, maintaining that “we (BJP) have been elected on the mandate to serve our people”, the BJP minister said “our task starts henceforth” and therefore BJP workers in the State should reach out by being the medium to bring the change that is so much awaited for in between the people and the government”.
“Let the people know that BJP has no other agenda other than to see a prosperous, dynamic, developed and corruption-less land filled with prosperity,” he said.
He also called upon the BJP members to remember the great leaders produced by the Party, including former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and his efforts to bring the Nagas towards national integration by doing everything possible needed for the Naga people.
The foundation of BJP is a nationalist foundation – with a stress on bringing development and prosperity to its people, he said, while also calling upon the BJP State unit to lay its foundations on the right perspective, which Nagas would be remembered in the days to come.
The Minister also asserted that BJP would lay the foundation to serve the people with dedication.
“We will be ears and eyes of our people and also be hands and legs of the poorest of the poor living in the village… and we will stand against all forms of corruption,” Along affirmed.
Along urged upon the BJP men and women to be the keepers of the peoples’ destiny as political party and also work towards national integration through a national party like BJP.
Meanwhile, the Minister also said BJP should work towards regaining the lost faith of the people, while also urging them to stop talking ill of any organisation which had misunderstood the Party and also to forgive them.
Former president of BJP Nagaland and Chairman MARCOFED, Dr M Chuba Ao highlighted the aims and objectives of BJP Party.
Dr Chuba reiterated that ideology of BJP is not to convert people from minority religions to Hindu but it objective is to train the people to serve the nation.
Convener of BJP Nagaland Media Cell, K James Vizo called upon the elected BJP leaders to fulfill the commitments of the Party made to the people during campaigns for the State general election.
Also stating that BJP is committed to value based politics to serve the people and nation, he urged upon the party workers to uphold the party constitution and also understand the concept of BJP in order to build a strong foundation in preparation of the future elections in the State.
Chaired by BJP Nagaland vice president Kuputo Shohe the programme commenced with Pastor of SABCK Himali Kiba. BJP Secretary Lima Onen Chang delivered the welcome address while BJP Nagaland Mahila President Sano Ngullie tendered the vote of thanks. (Page News Service)
