Imna Along

KOHIMA, JULY 22: BJP in Nagaland today celebrated the win of Droupadi Murmu as the first tribal woman President of the country thanking the legislators of the United Democratic Alliance for consciously voting in favour of the NDA candidate.
“She being there, we hope and believe that she will bring the tribal community to the forefront of the policies and programmes initiated by the Government of India”, said Nagaland BJP president and Minister for Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along during a celebration held here.
It is a proud moment for the tribal people of the nation as a tribal woman has become the 15th President of India, he said adding that Murmu will represent each and every tribe of the country while taking along the tribal community.
He termed her election as the most befitting moment for the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, 75 years of Indian Independence.
“May we remember this day as a red letter day for the tribals of the nation as Nagaland is predominantly a tribal State”, he said.
Appreciating the decision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP National President JP Nadda for selecting her candidature, Along said “we want our Naga people to know the visionary goals and the right steps of the BJP Government for an inclusive and good governance by the BJP leaders”.
BJP, in the 8th year of Modi Government, has shown secular democratic values by doing the right things always, he said.
Along further called upon the party karyakartas to work hard, dream, aspire and be committed to the national goals of the BJP party.
Further, the BJP State president thanked the UDA partners in Nagaland including NDPP President Chingwang Konyak, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, NPF president Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu and NPF Legislature Party Leader Kuzholuzo Nienu and the two Independent MLAs for consciously voting for BJP candidate Murmu.
Inspite of political ideologies, all the legislators have come together to vote for Murmu and it is victory for the unity of the tribals of the nation and the State, he said.
BJP National organizing secretary in-charge of Manipur and Nagaland, Abhay Giri said that Murmu comes from a small place and thanked the NLA members for bestowing their trust on the BJP candidate. There is hope as the State has shown their love for the mother of the nation, so will she reciprocate.
Minister for Soil & Water Conservation, Geology & Mining and NSMDC, V Kashiho Sangtam recalled that the BJP legislators meeting Murmu in Dimapur during her campaign and the UDA legislators deciding to extend cent percent support to the BJP’s NDA candidate.
On the political line, Sangtam called upon the State party leaders and workers to leave the issue of seat sharing to the national leaders but focus on expansion of the Party at the State level because Nagas still think that BJP is a Hindu Party.
BJP Government is for the people and not for any religion, he said while asserting that despite being BJP Minister and legislators they continue to serve the people of the State without any religious sentiments.
Chaired by BJP Kohima district general secretary Pelenguto Peseyie, the celebration commenced with invocation prayer by BJP state secretary Therali Ezung while BJP State spokesperson Ngampa Konyak delivered the welcome address. State BJP Mahila Morcha vice president Tsachola Rothrong shared a brief biography of Murmu.
