Dimapur, January 27: The launching of ‘Tsüngchi Samanir Ka’, the biography of I. Lanu Toy was held at Hotel Vivor Kohima today. The date of the launching of the book coincides with his birthday as he turns 92 years today.
I. Lanu Toy is a retired Chief Engineer who is known for his selfless and dedication to serve the people. He is the father of present Chief Secretary Nagaland, Temjen Toy.
The author of the book, Repalemzung Longkumer, who is also the Editor of ‘Lenjeter’, a Ao vernacular monthly magazine, in his short speech said that he met I. Lanu Toy on 13th May 2017 to interview him but later made him to write his biography instead. He added that it took him two years to complete the book.
Repalemzung said that during his interviews and encounter with him, he has learned a lot from him and described him as a man of his words, truthful, hard working, dedicated and a very punctual person. He also thanked Amongla Toy, wife of I. Lanu Toy for her contribution and help in his work and also thanked Senkaba Ao, former Editor, Ao Milen (a Ao vernacular newspaper) for the title of the book ‘Tsüngchi Samanir Ka’.
I. Lanu Toy in his speech said it was God’s will that a biography about his life was launched. He said Repalemzung Longkumer, the author of the book, took so much trouble and hardship to write the book and congratulated him for his success.
Toy said many author requested him to write his biography which included his brother Bendangwati and Easterine Kire but he turned down their request but could not refuse Repalemzung Longkumer and Dr Tali Imsong on their second visit requesting him to be interviewed. He said that during these interviews, he remembered and recollected many fond memories of the past he had forgotten and described these memories as “a very refreshing moments thinking of the past”. Lanu Toy added that his biography which is written in book is the truth of his life, his work experiences and testimonies of his life to all the readers.
