Dimapur, November 7: Bhandari sub-division held the departmental monthly coordination meeting cum Tokhü Emong celebration at the conference hall of the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Bhandari on November 6.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhandari, Tiameren Chang reviewed the last meeting minutes. Highlighting departmental activities, the Forest Department stated that it is involved in activities such as protection, conservation and aforestation initiatives by setting up joint community forest management committees with the villages under Merapani forest division.
It also informed that eco clubs are opened in schools where awareness programmes are held for the purpose of protection of biodiversity, natural resources and the environment. Removing plantations by unknown persons, practicing jhum cultivation and land encroachment over the department purchased areas needs to be looked into, it also added.
Medical department also gave a power point presentation to highlight its activities and functioning.
Later in the programme, the house also celebrated Tokhü emong. Narrating the significance of Tokhü emong, Tumben Tsanglao EAC, Champang stated that besides the many significance of Tokhü emong, it is also a time for everyone to retrospect, renew and redirect one’s life for the progress of not only the individual but for all for a better future.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Bhandari Tiameren Chang said that Tokhü emong gives a good opportunity to reach out to one another to foster in a better relations to work together as friends and colleagues even though everyone is entrusted with different responsibilities.
