Dimapur, February 8: Believers Eastern Church (BEC) would be organizing a general convention for North East region in Dimapur, from February 12 to 15 from 10 a.m. onwards at North East Agri Expo, Dimapur on the theme, “Love and Serve”.
Announcing this at BEC Tenyiphe premises, North Eastern Archdiocese, Archbishop Justin Mor Thomas informed that the convention would be graced by His Holiness Moran Mor Athanasius Yohan 1 Metropolitan, the supreme head and spiritual faith of BEC who would bless the members of the church with the teaching of God’s word and holy communion.
He also mentioned that similar convention would be held at Imphal and Agartala. The main purpose of the convention is to deliver an opportunity for all to come together have fellowship, share the joy and experiences of His faithfulness.
Thomas also mentioned that approximately 5000 to 7000 believers from 18 dioceses of the states of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Arunachal and Nagaland are expected to attend the four-day convention. BEC bishops and leaders appealed all churches, prayer centres, civil organization, NGOs and general public for special prayer support and cooperation to make the event a success.
Archbishop Justin Mor Thomas also highlighted the various activities programme of dioceses that includes welfare activities for women and children, disaster relief programmes, school education programmes etc.
In regard to the school education programme, he mentioned that BEC also has a vision to have one thousand schools within India in order to provide education to the students in bringing out the best in them within three years of time. In this regard he said that BEC have been striving to serve the nation as nation building and an agent of change for the people of the society.
