BCTE holds new Academic Year cum Freshers’ Day 2018


DIMAPUR, AUGUST 12: Bosco College of Teacher Education (BCTE) Dimapur, held its New Academic Year cum Freshers’ Day 2018 on August 10 with Dr./Fr. Sunny Joseph, Rector of Good Shepherd Seminary (GSS), Dimapur as chief guest and Fr. Vengakunnel Thomas, Rector of Salesian College of Higher Education (SCHE), Dimapur as the guest of honour. In all 100 new teacher-trainees were accorded warm welcome to BCTE, Dimapur.
In his welcome address Dr./Fr. Joseph Thuruthel, BCTE Principal, stressed the idea that learning is a life-long process for any human being. Hence, the moment a teacher stops learning he/she should forthwith stop his/her teaching career.
Dr./Fr. Sunny Joseph, Rector of GSS, Dimapur in his address urged that teachers should creatively create an atmosphere of love and humour enabling the students to learn more joyfully.
The day’s guest of honour and the Rector of SCHE, Dimapur underlined the fact that the teacher-trainees should obtain, not only the B. Ed degree but also should strive to attain the B.U. degree (Bachelor of Understanding the students and their needs/difficulties) if they really want to help the students.
The newly inducted Vice Principal of BCTE, Dr./Fr. Nicholas R. Guangdiat referred to the motto of BCTE, Exemplo Docemus (‘We teach by example’) and reminded the teacher-trainees that teachers teach more by their example than their words.
The other salient features of the day’s programme included Worship Dance (by Onika & co.), Welcome Song (3rd Sem students), Self-Introduction (Freshers, Section A), Dance (Capuchin Boys), Special Song (1st Sem, Section B), Self-Introduction (Freshers, Section B), song Strength to Rise (Janbemo & co. of 3rd Sem), Special Presentation (1st Sem, Section A), Modern-Traditional Dance (Aiborlang & co.), Sentiments of Gratitude (Lino of 1st Sem) and Vote of Thanks (Thomas Anthony of 3rd Sem).
