BBBP campaign held at Mon, Bhandari

Dimapur, December 9: Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign programme on ‘Pre-conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Technique Act 1994’ (PC&PNDT Act) was conducted on December 6 in the DC’s conference hall, Mon. The campaign was conducted by Deputy Commissioner, Mon, Thavaseelan K, IAS and power point presentation on PC&PNDT Act 1994 was given by Extra Assistant Commissioner, Mon, Imliwabang Aier, NCS.
Beti Bachao Beti Padhao stands for “save the girl child, educate the girl child” and it is a Government scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 22nd January 2015 to combat issues of decline in child sex ratio and disempowerment of women.
Mon District has shown the second highest decline in Child Sex Ratio (CRS) as per 2011 census. Mon District has been chosen under multi sectoral intervention in Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.
Bhandari: Seminar and sensitization of girl child on education and health issues and distribution of sanitary kits for new born girl child was organised by District Administration Wokha in collaboration with Lotha Eloe Hoho under Beti Bachao Beti Badhao at Town Hall Bhandari on December 6.
EAC Bhandari T. Sulanthung encouraged young girls to work hard and to be a strong girl. He stressed on the importance of educating girl child and taking good care of girl child without discrimination.
Zuchobeni Ezung, President, LEH spoke on violence against women. Psychologist NTCP, Abeni Kikon spoke on domestic violence, health issues, pregnancy, mental health and also the effects of tobacco use.
