Kohima, June 5: A NST bus ferrying 27 Tuensang bound Bangalore returnees while on way from Dimapur met with an accident on National Highway-29 just above Sechu-Zubza police station under Kohima district at around 6:30 pm today.
Police sources said the bus collided with a truck while trying to navigate a narrow stretch.
Sources said while there was no casualty among the returnees, the bus driver sustained minor scratches because of the broken windshield.
Meanwhile, sources also said that volunteers of Sechu Zubza Youth Organisation provided refreshments for the returnees while waiting for another bus dispatched from Kohima to ferry them.
Local administration sources confirmed that all social distancing protocols were strictly followed by the volunteers while not even being allowed to get close to the bus but they handed the refreshment through the bus driver who was in full PPE. The driver reportedly placed the refreshment at the entrance of the bus for the returnees.
District administration and police had rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation while also temporarily sealing the accident area for disinfection, including NST bus.
Subsequently the returnees boarded another bus and left for their destination at around 8:40 p.m. along with police escort, source added. (Page News Service)
